Anglers squander late lead, salvage 7-7 tie with Hyannis

CHATHAM, Mass. — This past weekend, it appeared as if a severe thunderstorm had hit Cape Cod. There was a severe power outage for those residing in Chatham, Massachusetts.

In season-opening losses to Falmouth and Bourne on Saturday and Sunday, the Anglers mustered just two extra-base hits and hit zero home runs. A double by Henry Ford (Virginia/transfer) and a Jake Hanley (Indiana) triple represented the entirety of the Anglers’ slugging output, leading to an 0-2 start.

On Monday, the backup generator kicked in, as the Anglers mashed three extra-base hits in a season-high nine-run performance against Wareham. It seemed the Anglers had found a groove....
