Tickets are now available for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s 2026 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Harwich, Mass. Fans and supporters are invited to secure their seats to celebrate the newest class of Cape League legends.
The 2026 Hall of Fame class features five standout figures from the league's history: two-time All-Star Seth Etherton (Chatham, 1995, 1996), Benjamin F.C. Whitehouse Outstanding Pitcher Award winner Matt Goyen (Brewster, 2004), 2008 Robert A. McNeece Outstanding Pro Prospect Award winner Grant Green (Yarmouth-Dennis, 2007; Chatham, 2008), 1996 Pat Sorenti Most Valuable Player Award winner Kevin Nicholson (Wareham, 1996), and long-time league volunteer and executive John Garner.
Seth Etherton (Chatham '95, '96)
The right-hander out of the University of Southern California was an All-Star pitcher and among the league leaders in ERA over two seasons on the Cape. In 1995, Etherton posted a 4-2 record with a 1.29 ERA over 49 innings, striking out 65 batters at an 11.9 K/9 rate. In 1996, he earned All-League honors with another 4-2 record, a 1.98 ERA, and 68 strikeouts over 50 innings (12.2 K/9)—highlighted by a staggering 29-strikeout performance over two consecutive starts. A first-team College All-American who helped USC win the 1998 College World Series, Etherton was drafted in the first round of the 1998 MLB Draft by the Anaheim Angels. He went 5-1 in 11 starts for the Angels in 2000 and later pitched for the Reds, Athletics, and Royals before finishing his playing career in the Dodgers system in 2010. He has served as pitching coach at both USC and the University of San Francisco, and in 2025 was named coach for the USA Baseball U-18 national developmental program.
Grant Green (Chatham '08)
The USC shortstop excelled across two summers with two different Cape League franchises. In 2007, he hit .291 with four home runs for the champion Y-D Red Sox. Returning in 2008 with the Chatham A's, Green won the Robert A. McNeece Award as Outstanding Pro Prospect after batting .348 with 12 doubles, six home runs, and 21 RBI. He also earned All-Star Game MVP honors after launching a two-run homer to lead the East to victory, and was named All-League shortstop. Drafted 13th overall by the Oakland Athletics in 2009, Green played five seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily with Oakland and the Los Angeles Angels, before closing out his career in the Mexican League in 2018.
