Blake Sabol (Southern California) has been named the Week 5 Player of the Week by the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Sabol has been crushing the ball over the last week. The rising junior is 10-for-23 with four home runs, eight runs scored, eights RBIs and five walks in the A’s last eight contests.
Chatham had a 5-3 record over the past week, propelling it to second place in the East Division.
Three of those four homers came during a three-game stretch from July 13 to 15. All three of the round-trippers were hit in the second inning with no runners on base.
Anglers manager Tom Holliday said he thinks Sabol is making himself a lot of money with his recent display of hitting.
“Hitting in this league when you get on a tair like that is a really good bonus and Sabol is on a roll,” Holliday said.
This is the second time a Chatham player has been named Player of the Week this season. Spencer Torkelson (Arizona State) was given the honor during the second week of the season. Both Sabol and Torkelson will be competing in this year’s Home Run Hitting Contest on July 22.
