Chatham Anglers

The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premier NCAA summer collegiate baseball league and the Chatham Anglers have always attracted some of the best college players from across the country.  There are many rewards including the children’s admiration and devotion to the players, college influence, and just the fun of having a baseball player in the house.

The season opens on June 9th and runs through August 2nd, with playoffs following.  The boys begin arriving on June 1st in preparation for the season!

Here are a few of the basics:

The players should have a room of their own (i.e., not shared with a family member).

The host family should provide bed linens and towels.  The players need access to laundry facilities and a bathroom.  Outdoor showers are great—weather permitting!!

Food:  always a concern!  Remember that the players are fed after every game.  Anything else that you provide is a bonus.  Just having cereal and milk on hand is lovely, and each family can do as much as they like!

They will be sharing your TV and watching baseball games with your family!

The players always appreciate being included in any family outings to the beach, boating, fishing or any dinners.  They are just as anxious about pleasing their host families as the host families are about them!  Taking two players is always a bonus for their camaraderie, conversation, and transportation.  The boys are expected to be kind, respectful, open and honest.  It is acceptable to ask them to help out with the garbage, unload groceries, and put their dishes in the dishwasher.  They are not responsible to do any house/yard work or baby sit.

These young men come from some of the finest colleges and universities in the country.  They have worked very hard for many years to realize this dream.  It can only happen if you open your homes and your hearts to give these boys a place to live for the summer and the chance to play for the Chatham Anglers!
