The Chatham Anglers (17-8-1) came back to win in dramatic fashion on Saturday at Eldredge Park, defeating the Orleans Firebirds 2-1 with a little help from mother nature.
Trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning, Chatham came back to take the lead with the help of a home run from J.D Davis
(Cal State Fullerton) and a bases-loaded wild pitch from Orleans starter Bobby Poyner (Florida), giving the Anglers a 2-1 lead.
The seventh inning was completed, but the game was called in the eighth inning due to rain, and Chatham got the victory.
The Anglers will look for their third-straight victory tonight, as they return to Veterans Field to take on the Y-D Red Sox (12-13-1).
Chatham is in the middle of a six-game stretch within the division. So far, they are 2-1 in this stretch, collecting victories over Brewster and Orleans. The Anglers last loss came on July 8 against Y-D, where they fell 6-4 to the Red Sox.
In their last meeting at Veterans Field, Chatham would come back to win in walk-off fashion behind a game-winning RBI double from Dante Flores
