The Anglers have yet to win in back-to-back days, following up last Saturday's 7 - 2 win over the Whitecaps with a loss and tie in a doubleheader at Hyannis. On the road, Chatham is now 0-6-1, traveling to Brewster for the second time this season tonight.
Nicholas Regalado will take the mound first for the Anglers. He last started against Bourne, allowing three hits and two runs with five strikeouts. Regalado recorded two 1-2-3 innings against the Braves, but he was pulled in the fifth inning after allowing runners on each base.
Brian Fitzpatrick will start for the Whitecaps after pitching in two other games this season. He recorded four strikeouts, allowing two hits in five innings during Brewster's 5-4 win over Hyannis. Fitzpatrick had a 3.91 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season at Rutgers.
Johnny Castagnozzi knocked a solo home run in Chatham's second matchup at Hyannis to secure a tie in the top of the seventh. Before that, Castagnozzi had struggled with just one hit in his previous nine at-bats. He's in his second season with the Anglers, posting nine hits, including two home runs, in 2021.
Caden Grice also recorded his second home run of the season against the Harbor Hawks, improving to a .227 batting average on the year. He's played center field and first base for the Anglers, and could make an appearance at the mound as well. Grice notched 12 home runs and 40 RBIs at Clemson this year.
Alex Freeland has five of the Whitecaps' seven home runs this season. He leads the league in homers as well ' Brayden Taylor is the next closest with three. Freeland is also third in the league with 10 RBIs while teammate Grayson Tatrow currently sits at sixth. The junior from Central Florida has a .308 batting average this season.
Michael Sirota is second in batting average for Brewster (.455) with five hits this season. He's struck out twice, walking four times. Sirota recorded 20 RBIs, 14 doubles, and four home runs at Northeastern this season.
The Whitecaps sit second to last in the league with 84 hits and 39 runs this season. They've struggled to get past first base on their initial hits, only getting to second base a total of 11 times in 2022. Brewster's 34 RBIs is also last in the league.
After manager Tom Holliday joked that he would burn all of Chatham's bats if the offense couldn't turn things around, the Anglers exploded with double-digit hits for the first time this season. They defeated Brewster 7-2, ending a four-game losing streak.
'Baseball is a game of hot and cold,' catcher Hayden Travinski said. 'We had a little bit of a cold stretch but it was only a matter of time until our bats got hot.'
Travinski had two hits and two RBIs in his Chatham debut, including an RBI in the sixth inning to put the stamp on the win. Guy Garibay Jr. matched Travinski's two hits and two RBIs as well.
