JOHN RAVE - SOPHOMORE – ILLINOIS STATE / HOMETOWN: BLOOMINGTON, IL
OUTFIELDER - 6’0” – 185 LBS. – L/L
John Rave recently completed his sophomore season for the Illinois State Redbirds. In 2018 John led the Redbirds in a number of
offensive categories including games, runs, doubles, triples, homeruns, RBIs, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. He
was second in batting average, hovering around .350 over the course of the season. After his freshman season (2017), John was
named to the Freshman All-American Team by Collegiate Baseball. He played in all 56 games and was an offensive leader. Rave
can play all three outfield positions with centerfield being most familiar. John has above average speed and a strong throwing
arm. John is an excellent student having been a member of the National Honor Society. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in
the 35th round of the 2016 MLB First Year Player Draft.
BLAKE SABOL - SOPHOMORE – UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA (USC) / HOMETOWN: ALISO VIEJO, CA
CATCHER/ FIRST BASEMAN - 6’4” – 205 LBS. – L/R
Blake joins the Anglers for the 2018 summer season along with USC teammates, Kyle Hurt and Ben Ramirez. Blake was primarily
used as a catcher by the Trojans, but he can play multiple positions. As a sophomore he led USC in hitting. Given his size, Blake
has above average speed. As a freshman, Blake appeared in 40 games making 26 starts. Blake comes from a very athletic family.
His bother Stefan plays in the New York Mets organization. His father Rob played baseball at Long Beach State. His second cousin
is Troy Polamalu, the former great USC Trojan and Pittsburg Steelers defensive back. Blake played for the Wareham Gatemen in
the summer 2017.
NICK SCHEIDLER - SOPHOMORE – UCLA / HOMETOWN: ENCINITAS, CA
LHP - 6’3” – 190 LBS. – L/L
Nick Scheidler joins the 2018 Anglers as a left-handed reliever from UCLA. The Bruins used him primarily as a left handed special-
ist out of the bullpen. He led UCLA pitchers in appearances in both 2017and 2018. He averaged close to a strike-out per inning.
Nick has a long lean frame. He stays on top of his pitches driving the ball downhill.
JACOB “JAKE” SNIDER - SOPHOMORE – LOUISVILLE / HOMETOWN: CHAMPAIGN, IL

Jake Snider joins the Chatham Anglers after recently completing his sophomore season for the University of Louisville Cardinals.
He will be joining teammate Mike Kirian. As a freshman (2017), he played in over half of Louisville’s games. As a sophomore he
joined former Angler, Josh Stowers in the Cardinal lineup. Jake demonstrated a good ability to get on base. He has excellent
base-stealing skills with more than 20 stolen bases. Jake played in the Northwoods League in the summer 2017 where he hit .395
in limited action. In the summer 2016 he played in the West Coast League, hitting .395, 2 HRs and 18 RBIs in 26 games. Jake comes
from a baseball family as his father Eric played collegiately and is currently Louisville’s hitting coach.
JAKE TAYLOR - FRESHMAN – OKLAHOMA STATE / HOMETOWN: SHAWNEE, OK
PITCHER - 6’4” – 205 LBS. – L/L
Jake just finished his freshman campaign with the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He joins the Anglers along with college teammate,
Jonathan Heasely. He saw action as a catcher. Jake also has experience at first base and third base. As a hitter Jake has quick
hands, and has a hard line-drive swing. In his prep years, Jake was a four-year starter. He helped his high school to a 40-0 record
while being ranked as the number-one high school program in the country. Jake hit .519, 9 HRs and 68 RBIs. His high school won
three Oklahoma State Championships in his four years. Jake is a very god student. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the
25th round of the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft.
SPENCER VAN SCOYOC - SOPHOMORE – ARIZONA STATE / HOMETOWN: CEDAR RAPIDS, IA
PITCHER - 6’4” – 205 LBS. – L/L
Spencer Van Scoyoc joins the 2018 Chatham Anglers after completing his sophomore season at Arizona State. Van Scoyoc is no
stranger to the Cape Cod Baseball League having played for the YD Red Sox in the summer 2017 going 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA. As a
freshman, Van Scoyoc moved into the starting rotation mid-way through the Arizona State season. He finished with 8 starts, 28
innings pitched and a 3.86 ERA. His recently completed his sophomore season that was marked by wildness. He joins the Anglers
with the goal of returning to the top prospect status he had as a prep star. He was ranked as the number 46 high school prospect
in 2016. Spencer comes from a baseball family of three generations. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 19th round
of 2016 MLB First Year Draft.
FREDDY ZAMORA - FRESHMAN – MIAMI / HOMETOWN: MIAMI SHORES, FL
SHORTSTOP - 6’1” – 185 LBS. – R/R
Freddy Zamora joins the Chatham Angers after an outstanding freshman season at the University of Miami. As of the printing
of this program Zamora was hitting .307, slugging percentage was .419 and on base percentage was .399 He has great plate
discipline as he struck out less than 10 percent of his at bats. He has good speed on the base paths. He has excellent range at
shortstop, very good balance, soft hands and a strong arm. As a hitter, Freddy has quick hands and a line drive swing. In his senior
year of high school he was named Second Team All-American by Perfect Game He was a ranked as the number 53 prospect in the
2018 freshman class.
