CHATHAM ANGLERS IN THE DUGOUT 2026




                        DENNIS COOK  | MANAGER
                        Cook, a 15-year major leaguer and World Series Champion, returns for his second season as Chatham’s manager. Before becoming the Anglers skipper,
                        Dennis served as the A’s pitching coach for four seasons, helping guide Chatham to the League’s championship round in 2018 and to win the East Division
                        regular season title in 2019. Prior to becoming the A’s manager Cook managed in the Appalachian League, and overseas (Polish National Team & in
                        Dubai’s Baseball United League). Cook’s coaching career has also had stops in Sweden, Germany, Italy, and at Northwestern University. Cook’s playing
                        career began at Texas (two-time All Conference pitcher and outfielder), which was followed by a 15-year MLB career, highlighted with a World Series
                        Championship season with the Florida Marlins in 1997.  Dennis also was part of the New York Mets 2000 team that reached the Fall Classic.

                        JAY POWELL  | PITCHING COACH
                        A former 11-year MLB reliever and longtime coach, Jay enters his second full season with the Anglers. In 2025 Jay led a staff that had 14 pitchers compile
                        a <3.00 ERA. A Mississippi Sports Hall of Famer, he currently serves as associate head baseball coach and assistant softball coach at Jackson Preparatory
                        School as well as a radio broadcast analyst on the Mississippi State media team. A former first-round pick out of Mississippi State University, Powell was
                        the winning pitcher in Game 7 of the 1997 World Series for the Florida Marlins, where he was teammates with Chatham manager Dennis Cook.
                        BRETT DOE  | ASSISTANT COACH
                        Brett, the head coach at Tyler Junior College (Texas), returns for his second season with Chatham. Doe joined TJC before the 2025 season after three
                        years as the head coach at Dodge City Community College (Kansas), where he racked up nearly 100 wins. Prior to becoming a head coach Doe spent five
                        seasons as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Navarro College (Texas) where he helped lead his alma mater to the 2019 NJCAA Baseball World
                        Series. Doe’s playing career began at Navarro where he won a NJCAA championship, before moving on to play two years at Baylor University, becoming a
                        team captain in 2014. Doe was then drafted by the Minnesota Twins, playing two seasons in their farm system before entering coaching.

                         BJÖRN JOHANNESSEN  |  ASSISTANT COACH
                         Björn Johannessen, who currently serves as manager of the Sweden Senior National Baseball Team, joins the Chatham staff for his first season in the
                         Cape Cod Baseball League. A stalwart in Sweden national team lineups across decades, Johannessen also had a long professional career as a catcher
                         spanning multiple countries, including Sweden and Germany. He played collegiately at Santa Barbara City College in California in 1998 and 1999.



                         COLE CARUSO  |  ASSISTANT COACH
                         Cole, a native of Scottsdale, AZ, will be joining Chatham’s staff for his inaugural Cape League season. Cole was an all-conference infielder at South
                         Carolina Upstate before finishing his playing career as a team captain & sportsmanship award winner at Michigan. After his four year playing
                         career ended (.280+ batting average) and graduating from Michigan Caruso remained with the program, currently serving as a hitting and infield
                         development assistant.

                         MATTEO MARTINEZ  |  ASSISTANT COACH
                         Matteo has begun his coaching career at the JUCO level with stops at San Jacinto & Galveston JC.  Martinez has also served as a head coach in the Texas
                         Summer Baseball league (Brazos Bombers) and has worked with various other baseball organizations including Marucci Elite Texas, and Phantom
                         Baseball.  Matteo played college ball at Texas Rio Grande Valley prior to entering the coaching ranks.

                                                                 2026 CHATHAM ROTARY CLUB





        The Chatham Rotary Club will once again provide a significant donation to the Chatham Athletic Association.
        The donation will occur in a ceremony prior to the June 23rd game against Bourne, which is ‘Chatham Rotary
        Club Night’.  The Rotary Club donation is earmarked to support our Chatham Anglers Youth Baseball Clinic
        Program.
        Virginia Kangas, pictured here, a long-term member of the Chatham Rotary as well as a long-term Chatham
        Athletic  Association  Board  member,  was  instrumental  in  setting  up  this  annual  donation.    In  her  honor
        the Chatham Rotary has named this donation the “Virginia Kangas Memorial Clinic Scholarship”.  We are
        very appreciative of the Chatham Rotary Club for their many years of support, encouraging youth sports
        participation in Chatham.
