PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

elcome to another summer of exciting and entertaining Chatham Anglers baseball! In
perusing this souvenir yearbook you’ll find information about our organization, our team,
Wand our history. This book also lists and thanks our nearly 1,000 contributing members,
along with the many other individuals (e.g. volunteers, interns, host families, post-game meal
donors, our Board of Directors), local businesses, and the Town of Chatham that step forward
to support us. On behalf of our Board, I extend a heart-felt thank you to everyone involved in
providing you with a first-class Chatham Veterans Field baseball experience.

Speaking of Veterans Field, we recently received the Town of Chatham approval, and much of
the required funding, to replace the existing permanent bleacher system and safety netting at
the ballpark. To fund our portion of this project, we will commence a ‘capital campaign’
fundraising effort this summer (see pages 14-15 for more detail). I’m confident that you,
our loyal fans, will again step up when asked to help us reach our funding goal. A successful
capital campaign will ensure the new bleacher and netting system is completed prior to our 2019
Angler season. We are excited to partner with the Town on this project, which when completed
will greatly improve the comfort, safety, and viewing pleasure of our fans. Please rest assured this project will not lessen the historic
charm of Veterans Field. The field will continue to be nestled in a natural bowl with great views from everywhere, a convenient
lighted playground will still beckon children, and stunning sunsets will continue to occur over the left field tree line.

We are very excited about the upcoming 2018 Angler season, the inaugural season for our new manager, Tom Holliday. Tom comes
to Chatham with a wealth of coaching experience that he accrued at some of the top college programs in the country, and he has
assembled an impressive, seasoned assistant coaching staff. We are confident that Tom and his coaches will bring a summer of fun
and exciting Angler baseball to Veterans Field.

While attending an Anglers game be sure to get the full experience. Stop by our merchandise booth to browse and purchase
Anglers logo items, visit our concession stand to indulge in our wide array of delectable items, and enter our 50/50 raffle, your
chance to win money and great prizes provided by our local merchants.

We are proud to bring you the best college baseball summer league in the country, a league where over 15% of the major league
players got their start. Enjoy the excellent baseball, the sound of wood bats, the free admission (we will “pass the hat” asking for your
generous donation), and after the game go on the field for autographs, pictures, and conversations with our players and coaches.
What a perfect way to spend a summer evening!

We hope you are able to spend many enjoyable summer nights at Veterans Field cheering on the Anglers. When away, you can
follow all the Anglers games (home & away) live on our ChathamAnglers.com website broadcast.

The Chatham Athletic Association is very appreciative and thankful for your patronage and support of the Chatham Anglers. Have
        a great summer!

                   Sincerely,

                   Steve West
