DiBrell Eyes a Win

Chatham, Mass. — Pitcher Michael “Tony” Dibrell and the rest of the Chatham Anglers head to Bourne today to face off with the Braves in the first of back-to-back games at Doran Park. The right-hander from Kennesaw State has appeared in 25 games over two seasons for the Owls, making eight starts. Coming off of his sophomore campaign this past spring, Dibrell has gone 1-4 with a 4.73 ERA in his first two seasons.

Heading into his first start of the season for the Anglers, Dibrell is looking to build off of a season in which he struck out 66 batters for the northern Georgia school.

DS: What pitches do you like to throw'

MTD: I love to get ahead with fastballs, obviously, and then my off-speed stuff is pretty good. I like to throw the curveball to get people out, changeup is a swing and miss, and I’m working on a slider, so we’ll see how that works.

DS: How are you game planning for your first start'

MTD: I’m probably going to wake up early and go get a workout in. And then just chill out before we come to the field.

DS: Well how do you relax before a start'

MTD: Usually I just turn on Netflix and find a good movie on there. I’ll probably find something on FX because they always have the best shows.

DS: Which shows in particular'

MTD: Parks and Recreation is a huge one right now. And I’m also trying to get into Game of Thrones…everyone recommends it.

When he’s not on the mound, Dibrell doesn’t appear to take himself too seriously and can be found shooting baseballs into a bucket in the outfield with Tom Cosgrove, or simply driving around downtown Chatham with a carful of his teammates.

Dibrell goes for his first Angler win today in Bourne at 6 p.m.
