Jake DeLeo has become one of the top freshmen in the country this season for Georgia Tech, batting .301 with 17 RBI in 48 games. The Norwalk, Connecticut native attended Avon Old Farms School, the alma mater of Toronto Blue Jays star George Springer, before Georgia Tech and was ranked the No. 8 outfielder in his class — the top of his class in Connecticut.

Caden Grice is listed as a two-way player, but his main contributions this season have come at the plate. The freshman has logged the second-highest average on the Tigers (.316) and leads them in slugging percentage (.599), home runs (13) and RBI (49) as of May 23. The Greer, South Carolina native is the youngest player on the Anglers roster in 2021, and was ranked the No. 38 freshman in the ACC by Perfect Game.

Sebastian Keane is one of three Northeastern starters in his redshirt freshman campaign. Keane is 5-1 on the year with a 4.25 ERA. The North Andover, Massachusetts native was picked in the 11th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox before electing to go to college — the first Northeastern player to continue with his college commitment after being selected in the draft.

In his first year with Oklahoma State, Trevor Martin appeared in 22 games and threw 31.1 innings — finishing with a 3-0 record, striking out 44 batters and walking just 21. Martin compiled a 1.72 ERA during the fall season of his senior year at Asher High School, and posted 120 strikeouts then to go along with 120 from his junior season.

Zachary Maxwell is one of the Yellow Jackets most frequently used relievers this year, and his 20 appearances are tied for second on Georgia Tech. The 6-foot-6 right-handed pitcher — ranked the No. 5 pitcher in Georgia and the No. 28 right-handed pitcher nationally — has recorded three saves and a 3.38 ERA across his 16 innings pitched.

Nolan McLean has shown off his power in his freshman campaign with the Cowboys, launching seven home runs and a .535 slugging percentage in 33 games this season. The two-way player is not just versatile on the diamond — McLean was a reserve quarterback on the Oklahoma State football team this past year. MLB.com’s 2020 Prospect Rankings ranked him No. 66, and McLean was an Under Armour and Perfect Game All-American in high school.

Lyle Miller-Green has emerged as an offensive threat in his first year after transferring to Chipola from George Mason University. The Virginia native is slashing .326/.431/.457 in 36 appearances this year through May 23, and Miller-Green has compiled multiple-hit games nine times in 2021. He’s also appeared out of the bullpen for Chipola after making five starts/relief appearances for George Mason — going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA — the previous season.

Cy Nielson has switched between starting and relieving with the Cougars this season, striking out 33 batters in 18 games through May 23. Nielsen was ranked the 13th best left-handed pitcher in the nation as a senior in high school, when he was drafted in the 40th round by Cleveland before electing to attend BYU.

Bryce Osmond has been a constant in the Cowboys’ rotation this season. He’s averaging 10 K/9 in 51 innings this season after making four starts and starting Oklahoma State’s season-opener in 2020. The Jenks, Oklahoma native pitched eight innings against No. 3 Texas on April 24, striking out 10 and setting career-highs in both categories.

Kevin Parada has been one of the top offensive players for the Yellow Jackets this season, leading qualified hitters in both batting average and OPS as of May 23. He left high school as the No. 4 catching prospect in the country and No. 6 overall Class of 2020 player in California, is near perfect behind the plate this season — recording just three errors in 45 games.

Josh Rivera has become a staple at shortstop this season at Florida, starting in 46 of the Gators’ 54 games. The freshman has gathered 42 hits this season as of May 23, launched five home runs, driven in 27 runners and scored 27 times. He started 16 games during the shortened 2020 season, and finished tied for third on Florida with 17 hits.

Maxwell Romero Jr. has impressed so far in his first collegiate season. He logged a 1.005 OPS through May 23 and recorded seven RBI and two home runs in his third career game. The catcher from Miramar, Florida also has a perfect fielding percentage behind the plate for the best rotation in the country. Romero Jr. was selected in the 38th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds

Brandon Sproat has appeared in 15 games during his redshirt sophomore season, throwing 21.0 innings while compiling a 3.86 ERA for the Gators. He picked up his first collegiate win on Feb. 28 against Samford, when he threw one inning of relief, and appeared in four games last year before the college baseball season was canceled due to COVID-19. Perfect Game named Sproat to its High Honorable Mention Senior Preseason All-America list before his final year at Pace High School, a year he finished 5-2 with a 1.53 ERA.

In the shortened 2020 season, Caden Trenkle tied for first in the NCAA with four triples and finished third with five sacrifice bunts — while also leading Oklahoma State in slugging percentage (.623) in his 18 games played, including 16 starts. The Chicago White Sox selected Trenkle with their 28th-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, but he chose to attend OSU, electing to play for the Cowboys over TCU, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.
