UNBELIEVABLE! A's Walkoff with 12-11 Comeback Win
For the A's, it doesn't get much better than this.

Chatham came all the way back from an 11-1 deficit to defeat the Y-D Red Sox 12-11 at Veteran's Field in one of the most thrilling baseball games you will ever see.

The A's scored two in the seventh, seven in the eighth and two more in the ninth to walkoff with a victory over first place Y-D.

Trailing 11-1 after six, Chatham pushed two across in the seventh. Kyle Seager (UNC) and Andrew Crisp (South Carolina) started things off with back-to-back singles. Addison Johnson (Clemson), who had homered to score Chatham's first run, then reached on a fielder's choice groundout. Johnson would eventually come home to score on an Allan Dykstra (Wake Forest) two-RBI single that also scored Seager and brought Chatham within eight after seven.

Things really got interesting in the bottom of the eighth. Crisp got the scoring started with a single that plated Zach Putnam (Michigan), who had singled to leadoff the inning. Johnson then singled to bring in two more runs and cut the deficit to five.

Scott Lyons (Arkansas) then struck out swinging before the drama ratcheted up a few more notches. First, Jermaine Curtis (UCLA) blasted a three-run homerun over the leftfield fence to cut the lead to two. Dykstra followed with his first homerun of the year and all of a sudden it was a one run ballgame.

Not wanting things to get out of hand, Y-D manager Scott Pickler made a call to the bullpen and summoned his stud closer Nick Cassavechia (Baylor). Cassavechia had not allowed a run in 10 relief appearances, but Chatham was not fazed.

Things developed quickly in the bottom of the ninth. Leadoff batter Seager took the first pitch he saw and pulled it down the rightfield line for a double. On the next pitch, Crisp laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Seager to third. Johnson then drove Cassavechia's third pitch of the inning right back up the middle to score Seager and tie the score at 11.

Now the A's needed one more hit and victory would be theirs. After Lyons flew out, Curtis came to the plate with two away and delivered that hit. His double into the left-centerfield gap scored Johnson easily and, unbelievably, Chatham had a 12-11 victory.

The loss was Cassavechia's first and only Y-D's sixth of the season.

Y-D built the big lead off Chatham starter Nathan Moreau (Georgia). Moreau allowed a run in the first and pitched a scoreless second before the wheels came off in the third. Seven runs scored in the inning for the Red Sox on six hits and three walks. The big blow was a Gordon Beckham (Georgia) two-run shot, his Cape League leading seventh of the year.

The Red Sox added three more in the sixth on two more homeruns. Sean Ochinko (LSU) had a solo shot to leadoff the inning and Buster Posey's (Florida State) homer plated two more to give Y-D an 11-1 lead.

The rest, as they say, was history.

Chatham will look to ride the momentum of Thursday's win Friday afternoon against the very same Red Sox, this time at Red Wilson Field in Yarmouth. Charles Brewer (UCLA) makes the start for Chatham. First pitch is set for 5pm.
