Former Chatham infielder Frazier makes 1st All-Star game

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier (2005, 2006) was selected to his first MLB All-Star game on Sunday, recognition of the strong season he is currently having. Frazier was selected as a reserve for the National League team, and Aramis Ramirez of the Milwaukee Brewers will start at third.

En route to the All-Star game at Target Field in Minnesota, Frazier is hitting .291 with 17 home runs and 47 RBIs in his first 86 games this season. He also has 16 doubles and 13 stolen bases.

"It's a real honor to be named to my first All-Star Game. It's something I always dreamed of,” Frazier said in a text message to the Asbury Park Press on Sunday evening. “It all comes full circle, Toms River to Rutgers to Cincinnati. I am very blessed.”

Frazier played alongside Evan Longoria, Alex Presley and Chris Coghlan on the 2005 Chatham A’s. He hit .270 that summer with five home runs, 27 RBIs, 17 runs scored and nine stolen bases. He was later drafted by the Reds in the 2007 amateur draft, with the 34th pick of the first round.
