by Anglers Media Team, 08-23-2013

Six Anglers Named to 2013 All-League Team The Cape Cod Baseball League released its All-League team for the 2013 and Chatham had six representatives. Only the Falmouth Commodores had more players recognized. The team was decided upon by Cape League officials.

B.F.C. Whitehouse Award winner Lukas Schiraldi (Navarro-Texas) was named to the team as a starting pitcher. Schiraldi led the league with a 1.19 ERA. Including his one playoff start, he gave up just one earned run in his last 30 innings of work for the Anglers. He led Chatham to their first playoff victory since 2005 with seven shutout innings against Yarmouth-Dennis on August 6.

J.D. Davis (Cal State Fullerton) was named to the team as a utility player. As a hitter, Davis hit .311 in the regular season with three home runs and 19 RBI. He added a pair of long balls in the postseason for Chatham. On the mound, he did not allow a run in five appearances while picking up two saves.

J.D. Davis was one of six A's named to the 2013 All-League Team.
In the All-Star Game on July 27 at Red Wilson Field, Davis hit a home run and a double off the bench for the Eastern Division. He became the first Chatham player to win the Eastern Division MVP Award in the All-Star Game since Grant Green in 2008.

Tommy Lawrence (Maine) was one of two Chatham players named to the All-League Team after his second summer with the Anglers. He went 3-0 with a 1.58 ERA in 28.1 regular season innings. He did not allow a run from June 30 to July 31, a stretch of 20.1 innings.

The other returning player named to the All-League Team was Dante Flores (Southern California). Flores left Chatham early in the summer of 2012, but returned iin 2013 to play in 39 of Chatham's 44 games. He led the team in hitting with a .317 average, which was 10th best in the entire Cape League. He was also third in the league with 13 doubles.

Catcher Connor Joe (San Diego) was one of four Anglers to hit above .300 in the regular season. Including the postseason, he hit five home runs and had 25 RBi in 2013. He was the starting catcher for the Eastern Division in the All-Star Game.

A late season surge from Jimmy Pickens (Michigan State) earned him a spot on the All-League team. From July 25 to July 31, he hit home runs in four straight games. He finished the summer with seven homers, good for second in the league. He also finished second with a .551 slugging percentage.
