With Division Title in Reach, Anglers take on Brewster
![]() photo by Graham Harboe/Chatham Anglers Jimmy Pickens (Michigan State) has three home runs and six RBI in the past three games. Still in search of his first Cape League win, Garza will have a potent Anglers offense to back him up. "Our offense is clicking right now," Schiffner said. "We have guys who can hit from any spot in the lineup and be productive." Coming into Tuesday, the Anglers rank third in the league in total hitting with a .261 team batting average, 193 runs scored, and 200 walks drawn on the season. Jimmy Pickens (Michigan State) is swinging a hot bat right now. Against Falmouth on Monday, Pickens had two hits and four RBI, including a three-run home run. Pickens now has a home run in each of his last three games, and also has two doubles and six RBI during that span. Landon Lassiter (North Carolina) has come back strong after battling a concussion, collecting four hits, five walks, and three RBI in four games since his return. Trying to contain the hot-hitting Chatham offense will be Whitecaps left-hander Justin Kamplain (Alabama). Kamplain has faced the Anglers before this season, where he was dealt the loss after giving up seven hits and four runs over five innings in the 4-1 loss to Chatham on July 12. On the season, Kamplain holds a 2-2 record with an impressive 1.90 ERA, striking out 35 and walking 17 over 33 innings pitched. Outfielder Scott Heineman (Oregon) has been the leader of the Whitecaps offense. He is hitting .315 with seven RBI and a league-leading 22 stolen bases on the season. With a win, the Anglers will be on the doorstep of their first Eastern Division title since 2001. Chatham sits comfortably ahead of the second-place Orleans Cardinals (19-18) with a 13 point lead with only seven games to go. First pitch at 5 p.m. Tune into the Anglers Extra Pregame Show at 4:40 p.m. for live coverage with broadcasters Brandon Liebhaber and Keith Zubrow at TRZ Teamline or call 1-800-846-4700, code 3841.
