Four Anglers Make the Cut for 2013 All-Star Game On Saturday morning, the 2013 Cape League All-Stars were announced, with four Anglers making the cut.

Dante Flores (USC) will be the starting second-baseman for the Eastern Division, while Connor Joe (San Diego) will start the game at catcher. Left-hander Matt Gage (Siena) and infielder J.D Davis (Cal State Fullerton) were also named to the team as reserves.

Flores has had a breakout season for the Anglers, leading the team in hitting with a .340 average, and also collecting 11 doubles, 14 RBI, 19 runs scored, and nine walks on the season.

In his first season playing for Chatham in 2012, Flores only hit .154 with three RBI in 20 games played for the Anglers.

Joe has powered the middle of the lineup for the Anglers, leading the team in home runs (3) and RBI (20). On the season, Joe has also added nine doubles, 10 walks, 17 runs scored, and five stolen bases. He his hitting for a .333 average, and in the past week, he has smashed the ball, hitting for a monstrous .478 average.

His best performance came just yesterday, as he went 5-5 with four RBI, and two massive home runs to help give Chatham the 10-7 win over Bourne.

Davis has also been a mainstay in the middle of the Chatham lineup since arriving on June 23. He is hitting .277 with 13 RBI, two home runs, 16 walks, and 13 runs scored. He also has two saves for the Anglers, and has yet to allow a run in three appearances.

Gage has been one of the leaders of the Chatham starting rotation, leading the team in wins with three, while adding a 3.37 ERA and 19 strikeouts in five starts for the Anglers. He has collected all three of his wins in his past three starts.

The All-Star game will be played at Red Wilson Field, home of the Y-D Red Sox, on July 27. Gates open to the public at 12:30 p.m. and the action starts at 3:30 p.m. with the home run hitting contest, followed by the All-Star game at 4:30 p.m.
