Against Y-D, Anglers Looking to Start New Streak
![]() photo by Chelsea Capwell/Chatham Anglers Aaron Garza (Houston) will look for his first win in his third start as a Chatham Angler. In his last start at Bourne, Garza picked up the loss despite only giving up one run. In the first matchup between Chatham and Y-D, the Anglers offense exploded in an 8-5 win. Blake Butera (Boston College) went 4-5 in that game, with a run scored and 2 RBI. Chad Sobotka (South Carolina- Upstate) picked up the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. The Y-D Red Sox (4-7) come into Tuesday three games back of the Anglers for first place, and have only managed two wins in their last eight games. Over the past four games, Red Sox pitching has given up a total of 41 runs, and have a team ERA of 6.00, worst in the Cape League. Looking to change the fortunes of Red Sox pitching will be right-hander Jeremy Null (Western Carolina). This will be Nulls first start of the season, but he has come in for three relief appearances, in which he has earned a save and has not allowed a run in three innings pitched. For Western Carolina in 2013, Null had a 3.36 ERA in 14 starts for the Catamounts, striking out 109 batters in 91.0 innings pitched. On the other hand, Y-D leads the league in hitting with a .265 batting average, and are third in the league in runs scored with 52 on the season. Helping lead the offense are infielders Robert Pehl (Washington) and Andrew Daniel (San Diego). Pehl has started all 11 games, and his hitting for a .341 average with five RBI and a home run. Daniel his hitting for a .423 average with eight RBI in eight games this season. With no game on Wednesday, the Anglers would like a second win-in-a-row to take in to their day off. "It would definitely be nice. You always would rather go into an off day with a win than a loss," Coach John Schiffner said.
