Anglers Make First Trip to Cotuit
On Friday evening, the Chatham Anglers (15-13) will go back on the road to face the Cotuit Kettleers (15-12). The Kettleers have taken both games against the Anglers this season, winning 3-0 on June 15 and 11-5 on June 24. With the previous two games played at Veterans Field, Friday will mark Chatham's first trip of the season to Lowell Park.

"Cotuit is a great ballpark with a great environment," said manager John Schiffner. "I think the kids will be excited for it."

Following a rainout on Wednesday, the Anglers lost 7-2 to the Orleans Firebirds at Eldredge Park. In his third start of the season, San Diego's Louie Lechich (1-1, 3.48 ERA) suffered the loss and allowed five earned runs on five hits in five innings of work. Unlike his two previous starts this season, Lechich had trouble moving the ball from one side of the plate to the other and gave up three home runs.

Chatham's main highlight against Orleans came in the form of a two-run triple by right fielder Dale Carey (Miami) in the seventh inning. While Carey has had his ups and downs at the dish this summer and is batting .214 on the season, the athletic outfielder's blazing speed was on full display after he rocked a fastball to deep center field, a ball that would have been a home run in many other Cape League ballparks.

"We've been waiting a while to watch Dale go to third base on a triple," said Schiffner. "That was really fun to watch."

Making his fifth start of the season, San Diego's Michael Wagner (2-1, 1.69 ERA) will man the rubber for Chatham. Wagner earned a no-decision in his last outing against Harwich on July 13, allowing two earned runs in four and a third innings and striking out eight batters. In five appearances this summer, the six-foot four right-hander has fanned 25 batters and issued 12 walks.

The Anglers will face a familiar foe as Arizona State's Adam McCreery (0-0, 4.77 ERA) will start for the Kettleers. McCreery earned a no-decision in his last start against Bourne on June 12, surrendering two earned runs on four hits and striking out five batters in four innings. When McCreery faced the Anglers on June 15, he received a no-decision and allowed two hits in four and a third innings and fanned nine batters.
