Before the Cape League All Star Game on July 29th, the oldest summer league in America will recognize one of its finest pitchers from the 1960s.

Joseph Jabar first played on Cape in 1965 and announced his presence as a star pitcher. Fifty years later, Jabar is recognized for his work as a congressman, lawyer and judge.

In two seasons with Chatham, the CCBL Hall of Famer notched a perfect 14-0 record. Jabar's teammates included HOF catchers Tom Weir and Thurman Munson in addition to pitching ace Ed Baird.

With a college degree in hand, Jabar briefly dabbled in the minors before hanging up his cleats. Despite the accolades Jabar received as a player, it was when he finished playing baseball that his career bloomed.

Chathams ace earned a JD from the University of Maine in 1971. Since then, Jabar has been a federal prosecutor, congressman, and state Supreme Court justice in Maine. Jabar's current term as a member of the Supreme Court in Maine expires in 2016.

Jabar joins Falmouth pitcher Paul Mitchell as an honorary captain for the 2011 Cape League All Star Game.

Jabar was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.

The first pitch from Fenway is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday, July 29th.
