Sunday's game had a little bit of everything. The way the action played out, it almost wasn't a surprise that the Anglers found a rally in the ninth to earn a 6-5 walk-off win.

Joe Sever (Pepperdine) came through in the clutch with a walk-off RBI single to plate Richie Shaffer (Clemson) from third to give the Anglers their first home win of the season. Eric Jaffe (UCLA) worked a scoreless ninth inning in his first appearance of the year, striking out two and earning the victory.

The Anglers (5-8-1) were on the seesaw with Y-D on Sunday. The home club took an early lead when Sean Reilly (Rollins) catapulted his second home run of the season beyond the wall in left center.

Kris Bryant (San Diego) followed Reilly's shot with a high, floating fly ball that hung up to the wall in center. Bryant got some help from the fog as centerfielder Isaac Ballou (Marshall) had the ball carom in and out of his glove. Catcher Dane Phillips (Oklahoma State) doubled to score Bryant and the Anglers led 2-0.

Y-D fought back after Chatham's starting pitcher Dace Kime (Louisville) retired the first two hitters in the third. Consecutive walks and a controversial hit-by-pitch chalked the bases and Jacob Lamb (Washington) hammered a ground-rule double to score a pair.

Two more runs came across in the third and it was 4-2 Y-D after three innings.

Manager John Schiffner was ejected in the third inning after a discussion pertaining to the aforementioned hit-by-pitch.

Stanford's Stephen Piscotty was taken out of the game after being hit by that pitch which Schiffner argued. Piscotty's replacement, Mason Katz (LSU) came on and crushed a lofty line drive to left in his first at-bat.

The ball hung up and hit the top of the wall in left, but then took a high kick back into the field of play. Shaken up after caroming into the wall, Pat Blair (Wake Forest) struggled to locate the baseball but gloved it just in time. With an accurate relay to shortstop Stephen Perez (Miami), the Anglers cut down Katz at the plate as he came around for an attempted inside-the-park home run.

Chatham got a run back in the eighth and thinned the deficit to just a run. Robert Benincasa (Florida State) came on to close for Y-D, but surrendered multiple walks and gave way to Matt Carasiti (St. John's).

Eric Jaffe's debut for Chatham was a success. The freshman who came on in the ninth struck out two batters and faced the minimum. The offense rewarded him in the bottom of the frame, getting the UCLA product his first win on Cape Cod. Benincasa was responsible for Shaffer and fell to 0-2 with the loss.

The first batter Carasiti faced lined a ball back up the middle and Carasiti caught the shot with his bare hand, only to throw wide of third in an attempt to convert the double play. A run scored to tie the game and set the table for Sever.

Sever's second hit of the game brought home Shaffer and secured the Anglers' first home win of the 2011 season in walk-off fashion. The Anglers improve to 5-8-1, the Red Sox drop to 6-6-1.

Chatham rides the momentum into Monday's contest with Brewster, a makeup of a contest which was postponed due to rain on Thursday, June 23rd. The action Monday gets underway at 7 p.m. ET.
