Game 23 Preview: Brewster at Chatham

At the season's halfway point, Chatham (5-13-4) begins back-to-back days of games against Brewster (10-8-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Veterans Field. The Anglers are 1-2-0 against the Whitecaps this season.

Probable Pitchers

Wyatt Evans (Tennessee) is set to make his second start this summer. The 6-foot-6 left-hander has had varying results. He allowed one run on two hits in a relief appearance against Yarmouth-Dennis but surrendered six hits and four runs in a start against Orleans.

Brian Fitzpatrick is off to a dominant start with Brewster. The southpaw is yet to allow a run through 14 innings. The Whitecaps have won all three of his starts, with the most recent being a 2-0 victory over Chatham in which Fitzpatrick struck out eight batters over five innings.

Chatham Players to Watch

Roc Riggio (Oklahoma State) put together his best game in an Anglers uniform in Wednesday's 4-4 tie with Harwich. Riggio laced a two-RBI triple to right field as part of a four-run first inning and squared the ball up in each of his other three at-bats.

Guy Garibay Jr.'s (Rice) solo home run Wednesday was his second in his past five games. The outfielder has three hits over his past five games, with all three going for extra bases.

Brewster Players to Watch

Alex Freeland is always a threat, despite going 0 for 6 against Chatham so far this season. The switch hitter is tied for the league lead in home runs with five. To go along with his power numbers, Freeland has drawn six walks to nine strikeouts.

Grayson Tatrow is in the midst of a strong season, batting .274 and leading Brewster with 12 RBIs. However, he also leads the Whitecaps with 25 strikeouts in 20 games. In his only game against Chatham this season, Tatrow went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a hit-by-pitch.

Stat to Know ' 11

Chatham has scored 11 runs over its past two games ' the most in any two-game stretch this season. Now with 56 runs, the Anglers no longer have the fewest runs scored in the league, edging out Orleans by one.

Last Time They Played

Chatham lost 2-0 to Brewster on June 28, kicking off a stretch in which the Anglers scored four runs over six games. Fitzpatrick allowed three hits over five innings and issued no walks before three Whitecaps pitchers combined to punch out 10 Anglers over the final four innings. Chatham struck out 18 times, setting a new season-high at the time.

Nicholas Regalado (Florida SouthWestern) took the loss despite allowing just one run over four innings. Brewster struck for another run against Carlos Rey (NoVa Southeastern) before Ricky Williams (Clemson) pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings.
