Chatham’s 2021 season-finale against Harwich canceled due to rain
Chatham’s final game of the 2021 season, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Veterans Field, has been canceled. There will be no makeup game, and the Anglers finished their season 16-19-3 and won six of its final eight games. Chatham ended the season in fourth place with 35 points in 38 games, starting slow through the season but becoming one of the league’s best in the final weeks. The Anglers scored double-digit runs in three of their final seven games, including an 11-6 win over East Division Champion Brewster last night. Without their final game against Harwich, the Anglers missed their chance to join Bourne and Brewster as teams that defeated every CCBL opponent this season. They are one of six teams to defeat eight, along with Falmouth, Harwich, and Wareham. While Chatham’s season is over, there are still more CCBL games going on, as well as events at Veterans Field. The playoffs begin Friday, with Brewster and Harwich facing off in the East Division and Bourne and Cotuit in the West. Veterans Field will host a fireworks spectacular on Thursday with children’s activities beginning at 6 p.m. and a performance by Dan Clark at 8 p.m. before the fireworks start at 9 p.m. The merchandise table and Snack Shack will be open. |
