After a three-game win streak and victories in five of their last six games, the Chatham Anglers now sit in fourth place in the East Division. They've defeated Orleans three times in their last four games to clinch the season series against the Firebirds, and in their next two games, they have a chance to split the series with two other divisional rivals.

One of those teams is Yarmouth-Dennis, who sits just above Chatham in the standings in third place. The Red Sox have a -18 run differential, and that number hasn't been positive since the third inning of their fourth game this season despite spending nearly half of the year in first place. Both teams have been eliminated from contention, so this game has no bearing on next week's playoffs.

Probable Pitchers

Victor Mederos is coming off the strongest outing by an Anglers pitcher this year. In his last start, he pitched six shutout innings against Falmouth while giving up four hits to kick off Chatham's short win streak. This season, the Miami Hurricane has three appearances, totaling 14 innings, where he didn't give up a run. In his other three appearances, he's combined for seven runs in seven innings. But apart from his start in the season-opener, where he gave up four runs in 2.2 innings, Mederos has only allowed three runs in his five other appearances.

Luis Ramirez will make his first start for Yarmouth-Dennis since allowing three runs in two innings in a 12-2 loss to Wareham on July 26. His 33 strikeouts and 29.0 innings both lead the Red Sox, and his .170 average against is one of the lowest on the team. Ramirez's best outing came on June 27 against Orleans where he pitched six two-hit, shutout innings in an eventual 0-0 tie. He's walked at least one batter in every appearance, too, peaking at three on July 5 and 12 against Falmouth and Brewster.

Chatham Players to Watch

Ever since Nolan McLean arrived on the Cape late in July after a minor injury, he's done nothing but string together for the Anglers. He has two home runs in five starts along with two multi-hit games. He's also reached base at least once in every start, with five walks, good enough for a .478 OBP to pair with a .667 slugging percentage.

Jake DeLeo has been Chatham's best player against Yarmouth-Dennis through five games this year. He has hits in two of them, four total, a walk, reached on a dropped third strike in another and scored as a pinch runner in the most recent. On Sunday, he didn't start and struck out in his only at bat, but DeLeo has six hits in his last three starts, including his first Cape Cod Baseball League home run.

Yarmouth-Dennis Players to Watch

Brooks Lee is in the middle of a seven-game hitting streak, a span where he has 16 hits and increased his average to .421, though it fell two points after he had only two hits on Sunday. The Red Sox are 4-2-1 over that stretch ' only Cotuit (5-1-1) and Chatham (5-2) are better in their last seven games ' and have won three in a row. Lee started the first nine games of the season before spending three weeks with Team USA, and returned to the Y-D lineup on July 21.

Tanner Smith also has a seven-game hitting streak coinciding with Lee's and the Red Sox's best baseball of the season. In games where Smith gets a hit, the Red Sox are 9-5-3. In games he doesn't, they're 6-8-4. His .259 average is the second highest among qualified Y-D hitters, and his 20 RBI lead the team ' second place has 14.
