After dropping a 6-3 game to Yarmouth-Dennis on Tuesday, where the Anglers fell behind 5-0 after the first inning, Chatham travels to Lowell Park for the first time this season to face Cotuit. The Kettleers sit one game below .500, just like Chatham before it lost to the Red Sox, and have lost three of their last five games ' including a 5-2 decision to Wareham on Tuesday night.

It's the first of three East-West Division matchups between the pair of teams this season, with the Anglers traveling to Lowell Park again on July 16 before hosting Cotuit at Veterans Field five days later. Chatham won three of four meetings against the Kettleers in 2019, though they advanced to the Cape Cod Baseball League championship and defeated Harwich to win the title.

Probable Pitchers

Bryce Osmond returns to the mound and makes his second start for Chatham. He tossed three innings against Brewster on June 30 while allowing three hits and walking four Whitecaps batters, but he also struck out five of the nine outs he recorded. In his second season with Oklahoma State, he logged a 2-5 record with a 7.42 ERA, and only two of his 13 appearances ended with no runs allowed.

Shawn Rapp, a teammate of infielder Danny Serretti at North Carolina, will start his first game of the season for Cotuit after appearing out of the bullpen for his first two outings. He's 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA across just five innings pitched, and in his season debut on June 21, lasted only 1.2 innings after allowing three runs on three hits. Coming out of high school, Rapp was ranked the No. 1 left-handed pitcher in New Jersey by Perfect Game and went 1-2 with a 5.21 ERA this year with the Tar Heels.

Chatham Players to Watch

Lyle Miller-Green had his first multi-hit game since the season-opener against Yarmouth-Dennis on Tuesday and moved into a tie for second place in the CCBL with four home runs after a first-inning blast. His single in the ninth inning, though, was perhaps the most encouraging sign, as three of his previous four hits prior to that ' spread across nine games ' had been home runs.

Following Osmond out of the Chatham bullpen, Chase Hampton will throw his third appearance of the season for the Anglers and aim to add more to his line of 6.2 innings, one earned run, four hits and a 1.35 ERA. Both of his previous appearances came at Stony Brook Field against Brewster, and he's struck out 12 of the 26 batters he faced while issuing just two walks.

Cotuit Players to Watch

Cole Cummings, who just finished his first year at UC Santa Barbara and third year of collegiate baseball, leads Cotuit with 14 hits and ranks third on the team with a .292 average. He tallied seven hits in the first four games of the CCBL season, but just seven in the eight since. Cummings also sits second on the Kettleers with 13 strikeouts ' an average of more than one per game.

Eric Brown's .324 average paces Cotuit's offense through its opening quarter of the CCBL season, and the Coastal Carolina infielder has recorded 11 hits, two home runs and five RBI. With the Chanticleers in 2021, he finished second with a .294 average and 55 hits while leading Coastal Carolina with a .513 slugging percentage.

Cotuit leads the CCBL with 20 doubles through its opening 13 games, but hasn't been able to turn those baserunners into runs ' they hold the second-worst run differential in the West Division. Chatham, on the other hand, ranked near the bottom of the league in extra-base hits, with the exception of its home runs, before its burst of six doubles in the last three games.

Last Time They Played

Cotuit snapped a four-game winning streak the Anglers pieced together in late July 2019, defeating them 10-3 on July 27 behind 15 hits and handing Chatham just its second defeat in 10 games. Fourteen of the Kettleers 15 hits were singles, but earlier in the day the Anglers had secured a postseason spot when Orleans defeated Brewster.
