Chatham's opportunity to win back-to-back games for the first time this season evaporated during an 8-3 loss to Orleans on Sunday, and now the Anglers travel to Hyannis to face the Harbor Hawks ' one of the four teams they've defeated in 2021.

Hyannis most recently lost to Yarmouth-Dennis, 7-1, and have lost eight of their last nine games since notching a victory against Cotuit. It scored just one combined run across its previous 18 innings with a mere six hits during that time. But Chatham's offense has struggled to manufacture runs, even as the Anglers pressure defenses with more baserunners, though its numbers sit slightly ahead of Hyannis' through the first quarter of the Cape Cod Baseball League season.

Probable Pitchers

Adam Tulloch (West Virginia) makes his first start of the season for Chatham after right-handed pitcher Aaron Davenport was released last week. He used to enter into games after Davenport started and threw his three allotted innings, and, with the new rotation, Cade Winquest (UT Arlington) and West Virginia teammate Jacob Watters will follow out of the bullpen.

During his first two Cape League appearances, Tulloch has stymied offenses to the tune of seven scoreless innings. His strikeout-to-walk ratio sits at 8:0, and he hasn't allowed an extra-base hit ' opponents hit just .130 against Tulloch ' while operating with a 2.125 strike-to-ball ratio, which ranks third on the Anglers behind Trevor Martin and Garrett Crowley.

Seth Halvorsen returns to the mound for his third start of the 2021 season with an 0-1 record through his five innings pitched. He's struck out five batters, walked five others and allowed six hits, but in his most recent start against Falmouth on June 27, Halvorsen allowed six earned runs in two innings ' including a two-run home run to Jonathan French ' in the Harbor Hawks' 8-5 loss.

A former 30th-round draft pick out of high school and No. 1 recruit in Minnesota for the Class of 2018, Halvorsen went 4-2 during his redshirt sophomore season at Missouri with a 6.00 ERA. He threw eight innings in his final start, a no-decision against Auburn, where he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits with seven strikeouts.

Chatham Players to Watch

Matt Hogan, (Vanderbilt) nearly lifted a broken-bat home run over the right-field fence in his first CCBL at-bat, but struck out twice over his next three at-bats. He slotted into at No. 2 in the Anglers' order, sandwiched between Jake DeLeo and Lyle Miller-Green, and played right field. Hogan appeared in 19 games for the Commodores this season, mostly as a defensive replacement, hitting .154 with two hits in 13 at-bats.

Logan Britt (Texas A&M) has been one of the most consistent players in the Chatham lineup the past two games, compiling three hits over the past two games ' including a double against Orleans where he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple. He's fixed his stance with hitting coach Mickey Tettleton, aiming to stride more and not tie himself up, and the improvements have lifted his batting average from .000 to .150 the last two games.

Hyannis Players to Watch

Marcos Pujols Martinez currently leads the Harbor Hawks in RBI with five, and after starting the 2021 season hitless for three games, he's recorded at least one hit in his last four. Pujols Martinez, a first and third baseman, hit .346 in his third season for Dayton, knocking 65 hits in 188 plate appearances.

Caden Rose paces Hyannis in plate appearances and sits second with a .250 average. His nine hits, two doubles and four RBI make him one of the Harbor Hawks' most effective players on offense, but he also leads them in strikeouts with 16. Rose is listed as both an infielder and outfielder at Alabama, where he just finished his freshman year, including 42 starts in center for the Crimson Tide. Out of high school, Prep Baseball Report listed him as the No. 1 shortstop and No. 3 overall player in Alabama.

Hyannis holds a CCBL-worst .179 batting average through its first 11 games, while also sitting last in the league in slugging percentage .230 and on-base percentage .270. Because of those offensive inefficiencies, the Harbor Hawks have the worst run differential at -33, and have recorded more than seven hits just twice this season.

Daniel Federman, Garrett Crowley and Victor Mederos combined to throw a one-hitter for the Anglers as they defeated Hyannis, 4-0, on June 26. The Harbor Hawks' pitching staff issued 10 walks, and Lyle Miller-Green hit his second home run of the season in the fourth inning to put Chatham's first two runs on the scoreboard ' bringing him catcher Kevin Parada, who'd reached earlier in the inning on a walk.
