Olson Paces A's in 7-4 Win
In only his second start with the A's, Cory Olson led the A's in their 7-4 win over the Bourne Braves at Doran Park on Thursday. Olson, a recent graduate of Orange Coast Community College and UC-Irvine Anteater-to-be, was 3-4 with a triple, double, two RBIs, and three runs scored. His first RBI scored Corey Overholtzer, who led off the third inning with a triple. Grant Green followed with a single, before Devin Lohman was hit with a pitch to load the bases. Victor Sanchez singled to right, scoring Olson. The A's looked prime to explode with the bases loaded and none out, but were turned away. Green was forced out at the plate on a Kyle Bellows ground ball, and strikeouts of Robert Papenhause and Dylan Brown ended the inning.

Bourne took the lead in the bottom of the third. Jordan Henry scored on a Kyle Roller Single, while Stephen Batts was driven in via a Dusty Coleman RBI double. Ross Wilson grounded to short, allowing Roller to score and the Braves ad a 3-2 lead after three.

However, the A's weren't down for long. Gregg Glime walked to open the fourth, and scored from first on Cory Olson's triple. Olson was driven in when the next batter, Grant Green, flew out to left. In the bottom of the inning, Matt Zoltak replaced starter Joe Serafin. He recorded a quick out before play was halted for approximately 40 minutes due to rain. When play resumed, Zoltak quickly recorded the last two outs. Olson scored again in the 6th inning, setting up Kevin Couture's two scoreless innings in the 7th and 8th. Closer Brad Boxberger received added insurance in the top of the 9th, as Devin Lohman's triple, the third of the game for the A's, scored Grant Green. Victor Sanchez's sacrifice fly plated Lohman, and the A's had a 7-4 lead. Brad Boxberger would make that scores stand up, tossing a perfect ninth inning for the save.

Zoltak earned his first win of the season, while Boxberger notched his fourth save. The A's record now stands at 5-6, heading into Friday night's game at Veterans Field against the Wareham Gatemen. The A's beat the Gatemen on Tuesday night by a 2-0 final. Friday's game begins at 7, with full broadcast coverage beginning with A's Extra at 6:40.
