Braves Top A's 5-2
The A's welcomed the Bourne Braves to Veterans Field Tuesday night for a matchup of teams struggling to hit the ball. However, Bourne left Veterans Field with their first win of the season, as their offense came alive in a 5-2 win Chatham had struck out 31 times in two games, hitting only .200 as a team. Bourne was worse, as Harvey Shapiro's team came into the game hitting a paltry .190. The Braves struck first off of Chatham starter Jake Thompson, as Jordan Henry led off the game with a single, advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw, and scored on a Kyle Roller single. Roller injured his leg while running the bases, and was replaced by Jamie Johnson. Bourne starter Ricky Bowen kept the A's at bay, holding the A's to 6 hits over 6 innings of work. The A's scored their runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Grant Green, batting out of the leadoff spot, doubled and scored in the fifth inning. However, he was highly unlucky, as he hit two balls to the centerfield warning track which were hauled in by Bourne's Jordan Henry. Thompson takes the loss, but John Schiffner saw effective relief, as Kevin Scanlan and Brad Boxberger were sharp. The A's were led offensively by Baylor's Aaron Miller, who picked up two more hits to bring his team-leading total to five.

The A's hit the road for the first time in 2008 Wednesday night, as they travel to Hyannis for a 7 PM start. The A's will seek not only their first win of the season as San Diego's Sammy Solis takes the mound, but will also look to exact some revenge for Saturday's season opening loss at Veterans Field. With new lights at McKeon Park, the A's will play their first night game in Hyannis in 15 years. San Diego infielder Victor Sanchez is expected to play, he arrived in Chatham during Tuesday's game with Bourne. Also expected to be in uniform is new assistant coach Bobby Malek. Coverage begins at 6:40 with the A's Extra pregame show, with the first pitch coming at 7 PM. Live streaming audio is available through TRZ Teamline at chathamas.com.
