Baylor's Bradford Named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year
Cody Bradford (Chatham ‘18) was named the 2018 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year on Tuesday. The sophomore left-hander also received All-Big 12 First Team honors as well. Here’s more from the conference and the Baylor Bears on Bradford’s accomplishment.
Big 12 Press Release:Bradford compiled a 2.60 earned run average in 12 starts this season, while pitching two complete games and notching a pair of shutouts. In league play, the sophomore boasted a 1.88 ERA with a 4-3 record, while fanning 49 and walking 13 in 52.2 innings pitched.”
Baylor Athletics:“He tied a career high with 10 strikeouts on May 11 vs. No. 20 Oklahoma State, giving him two 10-strikeout games this season (April 20 vs. TCU). The last season in which a player had two or more 10-strikeout games was 2010. He also tied career high nine innings pitched for the second straight game and second straight shutout on April 27 at Kansas State (April 20 vs. TCU) -- Baylor's first player in program history to throw back-to-back complete game shutouts. He's the first BU player to pitch back-to-back complete games since Jason Jennings in 1999.
The lefty continued his strong season on Wednesday, striking out a career-high 11 batters in a 4-0 win over Oklahoma in the conference championship opener.
