Sixth Annual ALS Awareness Game to benefit Chatham alum Chris Combs

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team will play the Sixth Annual ALS Awareness Game at Fenway Park, the team and the Boston Red Sox announced on Wednesday. The Eagles’ game, played in honor of former captain Pete Frates who was diagnosed with ALS in March 2012, will feature an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup against NC State on Saturday, April 22 at 4 p.m. in America’s oldest ballpark.

Tickets will be general admission for $10 with all proceeds benefiting the Pete Frates #3 Fund and the Chris Combs Foundation. Fans can purchase them by visiting redsox.com/als or at the gate the day of the game.  Both the Frates #3 Foundation and the Combs Foundation are raising money for research and are sharing resources. There have been recent breakthroughs at UMass Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital

Chris Combs played baseball for NC State from 1994-97 and was a member of the Chatham A’s (1995) and YD Red Sox (1996). He was diagnosed with ALS in May 2016. He is an associate director with the Wolfpack Club. He is also fighting to bring awareness and funds to the disease. Chris is married and the father of three young children. Chris’s younger brother Ryan pitched for NC State and the Cotuit Kettleers. They are part of the Cape Cod Baseball League family.
