Notebook: Game 14 vs. Brewster

Chatham, Mass. — The Anglers look to win back-to-back games on their home stand as they square off with the Brewster Whitecaps (8-5) tonight at 7 p.m. at Veterans Field. Chatham (7-6) has fallen to Brewster twice this season and is looking for its first win over its division opponent.

At the Plate: Sean Bouchard of UCLA reached base three times in the Anglers’ 3-1 victory over Bourne last night. The infielder went 2-for-4, roping two singles in the latter half of the game while running out a dropped third strike in the third.

On the season, Bouchard is hitting .250 with nine hits in 36 at-bats. His on-base percentage is a touch higher, at .282, due to the sophomore’s two walks. Bouchard has also reached base in four consecutive contests, and has done so in all but two of his nine games played on Cape Cod.

Jake Palomaki also extended his on-base streak to eight games last night after walking in the first inning.

Last time out against Chatham, Zack Gahagan of North Carolina went 2-for-4 with a run scored as the Whitecaps bested the Anglers 4-2 in 10 innings.

Gahagan is one of seven members of the Whitecaps to have homered this season, as the third baseman went deep in an 11-6 win over Falmouth on June 20.

On the Mound: Tanner Chock (1-0) toes the rubber in what may be the last start of the temporary pitcher’s tenure in Chatham. In his two previous outings, Chock pitched 10 total innings, striking out four batters in each game.

After allowing two runs in the first inning against Falmouth on June 18th, Chock settled in, conceding only one hit the rest of the night.

The Presbyterian sophomore boasts a stingy 1.80 ERA after allowing just two earned runs on the season.

Looking to give the Whitecaps their third straight win over Chatham, Kade McClure makes his first start of the summer. The Louisville product pitched two innings in relief against Falmouth five days ago, but has yet to make a start after arriving in Brewster late due to the Cardinals run in the NCAA Playoffs.

McClure, who made 13 starts in 15 appearances for Louisville this season, touted a perfect 12-0 record this spring. In his 78 innings pitched, McClure compiled a 2.54 ERA.

Down the Road: Chatham will head to Hyannis for its first of four matchups with the Harbor Hawks tomorrow at 6 p.m. at McKeon Park. Following an off-day on Monday, the Anglers will then continue their West Division road trip by visiting Cotuit for a 5 p.m. contest with the Kettleers.
