Notebook: Game 11 @ Yarmouth-Dennis

Chatham, Mass. — The Anglers experienced their first off day of the summer yesterday, but are back in action today at Yarmouth-Dennis for the third of the teams’ six divisional meetings.

At the Plate: Infielder Hunter Lee reached base three times in four at-bats during Monday’s win over the Wareham Gatemen. During his time in Chatham, Lee has appeared in eight games, going 6-for-22 at the plate and compiling a .273 batting average.

Lee, who just finished his sophomore season at High Point University, hit .295 for the Panthers this past spring. He also crushed a third-best four home runs and ten doubles, while knocking in 30 RBIs.

Contact hitting was Lee’s mantra at High Point, striking out just 26 times in 217 at-bats.

On Sunday, when the Red Sox pounded Chatham 7-0, Y-D was led by Brendan Skidmore.

The left fielder went 2-for-3 and reached base two other times on errors in the second and fifth inning. He put the final touches on the decisive Red Sox win by hammering a Reed Howell pitch over the wall for his first home run of the summer.

Skidmore led Binghamton with nine round trippers this season and hit .307.

On the Mound: Tony Dibrell (0-0) heads back to the mound for the Anglers on Wednesday evening after pitching a no-decision against Bourne last week.

In his five innings on the bump, the Kennesaw State product struck out four and gave up two earned runs on six hits. Chatham went on to win, 8-3. Dibrell currently touts a 3.60 ERA heading into his second start of the summer.

Opposing Dibrell and the Anglers will be Y-D’s Will Montgomerie of the University of Connecticut.

Montgomerie went 6-3 with a 3.04 ERA in his freshman campaign for the Huskies this season. Appearing as one of the team’s three primary starters, Montgomerie helped UConn capture the American Athletic Conference before they were dispatched by Georgia Tech in the NCAA Regionals.

The right-hander threw five innings in his first start for the Red Sox, allowing two runs on four hits as Y-D edged out Brewster, 10-8. Montgomerie struck out six in his CCBL debut.

Down the Road: Chatham will head to Harwich tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. for its first of six games with the Mariners. They will then return to Veterans Field where they welcome the Bourne Braves at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
