Thirteen Anglers in 2017 NCAA Tournament
Chatham, Mass. — Thirteen of this season’s Anglers will take the field in the NCAA Men’s Division I Baseball Championship, which opened regional play Thursday June 1. The players will represent eight different colleges and universities, with four Anglers from UNC and two each from Louisville and St. John’s. Depending on how their teams perform in the regional round of the tournament, some players may be absent for the Anglers’ season opener June 14. If this is the case, temporary players will fill their spots until their arrival on the Cape. The sixteen teams that win their NCAA Regional competitions will advance to the Super Regional round beginning June 9, before eight teams proceed to the College World Series June 17-27. Oregon State leads as the top seed entering championship play, followed by the second-seeded UNC. LSU and Louisville are seeded fourth and eighth, respectively.
