Chatham announces 2023 Coaching Staff

The Anglers have announced their coaching staff for the 2023 season. Chatham welcomes back manager Tom Holliday and five new coaches.

Tom Holliday - Manager

After coaching at six college programs, Holliday took over as Chatham's manager following the 2017 season. In four seasons since, the Anglers have gone 77-76-17 and have made the playoffs twice. Under Holliday, Chatham appeared in the Cape Cod Baseball League Championship in 2018.

The Anglers missed the playoffs in 2022 but went 9-3-2 over their final 14 games.

Mike Henneman - Pitching Coach

With 10 major league seasons under his belt, Henneman brings plenty of experience to Chatham. Henneman played for three major league different organizations from 1987 to 1996 and recorded 193 saves. He was named an All-Star in 1989 and has the second-most saves in Detroit Tigers history with 154. After his playing career, he was a minor league pitching coach in the Tigers organization for three seasons.

Henneman played for Wareham in 1983.

Marty Lees - Third Base and Defensive Coach

Lees has nearly two decades of college coaching experience. He served as Oregon State's assistant coach from 2002 to 2009 before moving into a role as the Beavers' associate head coach from 2009 to 2012. Lees had two coaching stints at Oklahoma State (2013-15 and 2019-21) where he took on the roles of assistant coach, third base coach and recruiting coordinator. He also has experience as a head coach at the collegiate level, leading Washington State from 2015 to 2019.

Lees has helped bring programs to new heights defensively and has a track record of pulling in high-level recruits for his college programs.

Todd Shelton - Catching and Hitting Coach

Shelton has been the head coach at Panola College since 2007 and has been in college baseball since 1990. He had two stints at Oklahoma State, serving as an assistant baseball coach (1990-92) and a baseball administrative assistant (1994-96). Shelton was also the head coach at Eastern Oklahoma State College from 1997 to 2004. He played one season in Cleveland's minor league system in 1990.

Brock Riley - Assistant Pitching Coach and Clinic Coach

Riley pitched for the Anglers in 2018 and recorded a 3.85 ERA over seven innings. Since then, Riley has pitched in the Frontier League (2019 and 2022), All-American Baseball Challenge (2020) and Pioneer League (2021).

"I always loved the (CCBL). Always went to watch games as a little kid, grew up to become a player, and now excited to be joining the (Anglers;) staff as a pitching coach! Can't wait to work with countless big leaguers, and chase a championship ring," Riley wrote on Twitter.

Dustin Williams - Assistant Hitting Coach and Clinic Coach

Williams played four years at Oklahoma State (2014-17) and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors in both 2015 and 2016 as the Cowboys everyday first baseman. He joined Missouri State as a volunteer assistant in July.
