Game 33 Preview: Chatham vs. Brewster

For the sixth and final time in the regular season, Chatham (8-17-7) is set to face Brewster (13-13-6). The Anglers will take on the Whitecaps at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans Field. Chatham is 1-3-1 against Brewster.

Probable Pitchers

Caden Grice (Clemson) is listed as Chatham's starter. The 6-foot-6 two-way player has logged 6.2 innings on the mound this summer without allowing an earned run. Grice has come out of the bullpen in all three of his appearances. The lefty's longest outing came against Yarmouth-Dennis on July 10 when he went five innings.

Carson Liggett will start for Brewster. The right-hander had allowed one run over 6.2 innings before starting against the Anglers on July 8, when he surrendered four runs on five hits over four innings.

Chatham Players to Watch

Guy Garibay Jr. (Rice) has come through with clutch hits in Chatham's past two games. On Saturday, he drove a bases-clearing double to right-center field to put the Anglers ahead 4-2 in the top of the sixth. On Sunday, he plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh with a pinch-hit double.

Lyle Miller-Green (Oklahoma State) lifted his first home run of the season Sunday, sneaking a ball inside the right field foul pole for a two-run shot. Miller-Green led the league in RBIs last summer.

Brewster Players to Watch

Carson DeMartini leads all Whitecaps players with at least 40 plate appearances in on-base percentage, reaching at a .398 clip. He's 4 for 8 with two doubles and three RBIs over his past three games and leads Brewster in steals.

Logan Bravo has found success in each of his past three games against the Anglers, going 3 for 7 with three walks. On the season, Bravo is hitting .206 with six RBIs in 22 games.

Stat to Know ' 15

Chatham has scored 15 runs over its past two games, its most over any two-game stretch this season, even with one of the two contests lasting only seven innings. The Anglers have tallied 18 hits over the two games, with Roc Riggio (Oklahoma State), Marcus Brown (Oklahoma State) and Garibay each contributing three. Chatham is 2-0 in its past two contests, winning back-to-back games for the second time this season.

Last Time They Played

After getting out to an early lead, Chatham tied Brewster 4-4 on July 8.

Grice and Noah Ledford each belted a two-run homer off Liggett, putting the Anglers ahead 4-0 after the top of the third. Chatham held strong on the mound, blanking the Whitecaps for the first five innings, but the game began to deteriorate in the later innings. Brewster plated two runs in the top of the sixth before scoring two more on wild pitches and tying the game in the bottom of the seventh. The game ended in a tie after the top of the eighth.
