After its worst loss of the young 2021 season, the Chatham Anglers head to Bourne still in search of their first road win of the season. The Anglers are undefeated at home but have yet to win on the road, going 0-3-1 through four road games.

The Bourne Braves, on the other hand, sit atop the West Division standings as the only undefeated team left in the Cape Cod Baseball League. They lead the league in nearly every major statistical category for both pitching and batting ' including average, OBP, slugging percentage, ERA, WHIP and walks allowed.

That's not good news for the Anglers, who have seven combined hits the last two games and aren't unfamiliar with pitching disasters ' allowing 11 runs on Sunday and at least five on two other occasions.

Probable Pitchers

Aaron Davenport (Hawaii) will take the mound for the second time this season. He threw two scoreless innings against Yarmouth-Dennis on Tuesday, but a three-run second inning against Davenport sank the Anglers. During that appearance, Davenport's fastball sat in the mid-90s.

Jordan Patty's season debut will come Monday against the Anglers. At Central Michigan this season, the senior threw the first perfect game in school history en route to breaking CMU's consecutive scoreless innings record (41.1 innings over seven games). In the NCAA regionals, he threw 7.2 innings of one-run ball in a victory over Michigan. Patty struck out 78 batters and allowed just 72 hits in 91.1 innings of work.

Chatham Players to Watch

Kevin Parada (Georgia Tech) started the season out slow, but he's picked up recently, riding a three-game hit streak where he's gotten on base five times in that span. At Georgia Tech, the freshman led the team in batting average (.318) and total bases (121). In addition to being a power hitting catcher, Parada has also shown his speed, stealing a base already this season with Chatham.

Andrew Benefield (Dallas Baptist) mashed a grand slam against Harwich in just his fifth CCBL at bat. The third-year freshman hit 21 extra base hits with the Patriots and had hits in six of their seven NCAA regional and super regional games. Benefield was a late arrival to Chatham, making his first appearance at home against Hyannis, starting at third base and drawing two walks.

Bourne Players to Watch

Christian Knapczyk may not have a home run yet, but four of his nine hits this season have gone for extra bases. The lefty-hitting infielder sports an .890 OPS to go along with five RBIs. At Louisville this year, the freshman started in 43 games and recorded a .297 average.

Braylen Wimmer leads the Braves with a .500 average and seven RBIs in five games played. Wimmer hit a home run in each of Bourne's first two games and has a double in the two most recent. The Gamecock hit 11 home runs in 53 games and batted a respectable .271.

Stat to Know ' 13

Bourne has allowed the fewest walks of any team in the league this year, which likely won't bode well for a Chatham team that has more walks (17) than hits (14) in its last three games. The Anglers have produced three RBI walks in the last two days, making up for poor hitting performances in those games. Facing a team that has succeeded thus far at limiting walks, Chatham will have to find other ways to get on base ' likely through hits that haven't dropped much recently.

Last Time They Played

The Anglers scored four runs in the first inning in a 6-2 win at Bourne on July 26, 2019. Ty Madden started on the mound for the A's, allowing just one run in the process. The win put them within one win of clinching the East Division title, which they would do the following week against Orleans.
