The Chatham Anglers (9-5-1) will look to reach 10 wins on the 2013 season as they return home from an off day to face the Bourne Braves (7-8) at Veterans Field.
Left-hander
Jimmy Litchfield (UC Irvine) will make his first start of the season for the Anglers. All of Litchfield's appearances have come in relief this season, but Coach
John Schiffner tabbed him to start for Chatham.
So far on the season, Litchfield holds a 7.71 ERA, allowing four earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched, picking up four strikeouts along the way.
In his last appearance, Litchfield struggled against Harwich, allowing three hits and one run without recording an out.
For UC Irvine in 2013, he made 27 appearances, managing a 1.99 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched.
Back on June 19, the then 6-0 Anglers were dealt their first loss of the season at the hands of the Braves, as Bourne defeated Chatham 1-0.
On that day, the Angler bats were silenced by starter Jaron Long (Ohio State) and the rest of the Braves pitching staff.
On the mound for the Braves will be left-hander David Speer (Columbia), who despite his 0-2 record, has posted an impressive 1.86 ERA in three appearances (two starts) this season. He has struck-out 12 and has only allowed three walks in 9.2 innings pitched.

Coach John Schiffner and the Anglers are
looking for their third-straight win
In his two losses, the Bourne offense was only able to contribute one run total.
Helping lead the Braves offense are infielder Tim Caputo (Rhode Island) and catcher Max Pentecost (Kennesaw St). Both are hitting .304 on the season, and have accounted for 13 RBI together.
For Columbia in 2013, Speer had a 6-3 record in 11 starts, with a 2.34 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 73 innings pitched.
Infielder
Dante Flores (USC) has been the offensive spark of late for Chatham, as he has hit .407 with five RBI in his past four games, raising his average to .333 on the season.
"He (Flores) has been amazing, he does everything we ask him to do, and he does it well," Coach Schiffner said.
Flores' recent success has recently garnered league attention, as he was named the Coca Cola player of the week by the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The Anglers have received some reinforcements in the past couple days, as infielders Landon Lassiter (North Carolina), Michael Russell (North Carolina), and pitchers Kyle Funkhouser (Louisville) and Dominic Moreno (Texas Tech) are now a part of the active roster.
Looking for their third straight win, Coach Schiffner and the team are hoping to ride the success of Flores and the offense to another victory.
"We are seeing more consistent offensive production," Schiffner said. "We've been hitting the ball well, but now balls are falling, and we are seeing some good results."
