Chatham Journeys to Brewster for Second Time
On Thursday at 5 p.m., the Chatham Anglers (9-8) travel straight down Route 6 to face the Brewster Whitecaps (7-10). The Anglers are coming off a 5-1 victory on the Fourth of July in Orleans. The Whitecaps are hot of late and have won two games in a row, the most recent a 19-1 victory over the Harwich Mariners on Wednesday night.

Maine right-hander Thomas Lawrence (0-0, 1.29 ERA) is listed as the probable starter for Chatham. In five appearances out of the bullpen this season, the sophomore has allowed one earned run on four hits and has struck out ten batters. Lawrence will take on a Whitecap lineup that has scored 94 runs this season and is batting .281 collectively.

Brewster will send Washington State's James Leckenby (1-0, 0.00 ERA) to the rubber against the Anglers. Leckenby earned his first victory of the season in his last outing against Chatham on June 27, a 6-4 victory for Brewster, pitching four scoreless innings of two-hit ball and fanning seven batters. The Idaho native has been the Whitecaps' most effective starter this season and leads a team that allows an average of 5.15 runs per game.

Chatham goes into Thursday's game batting .224 as a team and leads the league in walks with 70. Left fielder Aaron Brown (Pepperdine) heads the Anglers' lineup in batting average, hitting .294 on the season. Center fielder Adam Engel (Louisiville) still tops the Cape League in stolen bases with 11. After a four RBI performance against Orleans on Wednesday night, third baseman and designated hitter Chad Pinder (Virginia Tech) has sole possesion of the league lead in RBI with 20.
