On Sunday evening, the Chatham Anglers (8-5) travel to Red Wilson Field to take on the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. (7-7). The Anglers are fresh off a 6-5 win in extra innings against the Brewster Whitecaps on Saturday night. Chatham now has 16 points in the Eastern Division while Yarmouth-Dennis has 14. The Anglers have taken both contests against the Red Sox this season, winning by the score of 9-2 on June 16 and June 22.
UC Ivrine's
Jimmy Litchfield (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will make the start for Chatham on Sunday, his first of the season. The sophomore has two appearances out of the bullpen and threw one and two thirds innings of scoreless relief in his last outing against the Bourne Braves on June 28, allowing two hits. Litchfield will face a Yarmouth-Dennis lineup that has scored 80 runs this season and is hitting .314 collectively.
Oral Roberts'
Alex Gonzalez (0-1, 81.00 ERA) will take the rubber for the Red Sox. In his only start of the season against the Harwich Mariners on June 24, the right-hander surrendered three runs on two hits in one third of an inning. The Florida native has the highest ERA for a Yarmouth-Dennis staff that allows an average of 3.86 runs per game.
The Anglers enter Sunday's game batting .224 as a team and still lead the Cape League in walks with 59. Third baseman
Chad Pinder (Virginia Tech) and center fielder
Adam Engel (Louisville) currently lead Chatham at the plate, hitting .295 and .289 respectively. Pinder is second in the Cape League with 14 RBI on the season and Engel leads the league with 10 stolen bases. In two games against the Yarmouth-Dennis this season, the Anglers have scored 18 runs on 18 hits. Additionally, three of Chatham's six home runs this season have come against the Red Sox.
