The Anglers and Orleans Firebirds played to a 2-2 tie in the regular season finale as the league mandated twelve-inning curfew ended Chatham's season with a tie.
The Anglers scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second against Orleans starter Cameron Hobson (Dayton). With one out, Jacob Stallings (UNC) walked and took second base on a ground out by Beau Amaral (UCLA). He would come around to score on a two-out run scoring single to left by Jason Martin (San Jose State) as Orleans left fielder Kevin Muno's (San Diego) throw home skipped off the glove of catcher Ronnie Shaeffer (UC Irvine).
The Firebirds would score two runs off of Chatham reliever Garrett Davis (UNC) to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Shon Roe (Loyola Marymount) singled to right field to lead off the inning before Joe Loftus (Vanderbilt) was hit by a pitch. Davis got a line out to third, but third baseman Kevin Vance (Connecticut), attempting to double off Roe at second, threw the ball into right field allowing Roe to advance to third base. Shaeffer then reached on a bunt single but Davis threw the ball wide of first, allowing Roe to score to tie the game. Will Piwnica-Worms (Duke) followed with a single to center to put the Firebirds ahead 2-1.
Chatham would get a run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score at two. With two down, pinch hitter Riley Reynolds (Vanderbilt) singled to left and advanced to second after Muno misplayed the ball. Brian Humphries (Pepperdine) followed with a double to left off of Orleans reliever Andre Kittredge (Washington) to score Reynolds.
