Hot-Hitting Anglers Search for Fifth-Straight Win, Take on Harwich
The Anglers (19-8-1) held off the Brewster Whitecaps 4-2 on Monday night, and will look to capture their fifth-straight win on Tuesday as they travel to Whitehouse Field to take on the Harwich Mariners (15-13).

It will be a highly touted division matchup, as the second-place Mariners will look to gain ground on the Anglers in the Eastern Division race. Harwich sits nine points behind first-place Chatham.

For the Anglers, the key to maintain their success is simple.

"We keep telling them to just keep doing what they are doing," coach Nick Derba said.

It will be a tough task for the Mariners, as the Anglers have been on a roll, winning their last five games, and eight of their last 10.

In the last meeting between the two teams, Chatham prevailed in a 10-6 shootout at Whitehouse Field. In that game, Chatham got out to a commanding 9-2 lead, but had to hold off a late run from the Mariners.

Jimmy Litchfield (UC Irvine), normally a reliever, will get the start for the Anglers. On the season, Litchfield has a 4.21 ERA in eight appearances (one start) this season, striking out six in 10.2 innings pitched.

In his only other start of the season, Litchfield pitched three innings, only giving up four hits and one run, as he helped Chatham defeat Bourne on July 2.

Connor Joe (San Diego) is hitting for a .444 average with five
RBI and four doubles in the past five games.
Tommy Lawrence (Maine), also normally a bullpen guy, got the start in last night's win over Brewster. In that start, he threw six shutout innings, only allowing four hits and striking out five.

On the offensive side, the Anglers are rolling. In the past week, Chatham has six batters hitting for an average over .300. During that span, Josh Eldridge (Old Dominion) is hitting .462 in 13 at-bats, with one home run and four RBI. Connor Joe (San Diego) continues his impressive season, hitting for a .444 average with four doubles and five RBI in the past five games.

On the mound for Harwich, looking to halt the Chatham winning-streak, will be right-hander Chandler Shepherd (Kentucky).

On the season, Shepard holds a 1-2 record in four starts despite an impressive 1.17 ERA. In his last start, Shepard allowed only two hits and two unearned runs over five innings, but was dealt the loss as Harwich lost 3-0 to Orleans.

For the Kentucky Wildcats in 2013, Shepherd was a perfect 5-0 with a 2.77 ERA in 26 appearances. He struck out 33 and held opposing batters to a .273 average in 56.1 innings pitched in his sophomore season.

Outfielder Derek Fisher (Virginia) continues to lead the Harwich offense, hitting for a .368 average with 14 RBI, 16 walks, and eight stolen bases for the Mariners this season.

Despite sitting in first place in the Eastern Division and holding the best record in the league, the Anglers work ethic has remained constant.

"We cant get too high on ourselves," Lawrence said. "We have done really well so far this season, but there is still a long ways to go. Anything can happen."
