Anglers Take on Harwich with Eyes on Postseason
On Sunday night, the Chatham Anglers (18-21-2) return to Veterans Field to face the first place Harwich Mariners (25-15-1). Leading the Brewster Whitecaps by five points for the fourth playoff spot in the East Division, the Anglers need a victory or a Whitecap loss to clinch a postseason berth. Coming off a 12-2 loss against Wareham on Saturday night, Chatham will be back in their comfort zone against a team they are 2-2-1 against this summer. In their last meeting, the Anglers and the Mariners left Whitehouse Field with an 8-8 tie after 12 innings of play.

"For some reason we tend to match up better against Harwich than somebody like Wareham," said manager John Schiffner. "Who knows what's going to happen' It's nice to be back in our neck of the woods."

Pepperdine's Aaron Brown (1-0, 2.40 ERA) will make his second start of the season for the Anglers. Brown received a no-decision in his last outing against Cotuit on July 30 (5IP, 3H, 2R, 3BB, 5K). While Brown has plenty of potential as a hitter, the southpaw has thrived on the rubber this summer.

"He's looked pretty good," said pitching coach Scott Winterburn. "We've always thought that Aaron could throw the ball pretty well. It's just been a matter of opportunity. He got a window, got his first start and he did what he could with it and earned himself another one. He's facing a good hitting team tonight that feasts on mistakes, so he's gonna have to have a plate-side mentality and disrupt them with his off-speed pitches."

Chatham will see a familiar face on Sunday as Virginia Tech's Eddie Campbell (3-1, 4.07 ERA) will man the rubber for Harwich. Campbell suffered a loss in his most recent start against Falmouth on July 30 (5IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 9K). In two starts this summer against the Anglers, Campbell has a 2-0 record, the first win coming in a 4-3 victory on July 7 (6IP, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K) and the second in a 7-3 contest on July 21 (5IP, 4H, 2ER, 3BB, 4K).
