Chatham Alum Brad Ziegler Breaks 101-Year-Old ML Record
Former A's pitcher Brad Ziegler has yet to allow a run in his first 27 innings with the Oakland A's as of July 27. That scoreless stretch to begin a career breaks a Major League record set in 1907. The 28-year-old has a 1-0 record in 23 relief appearances.

Ziegler played with the A's in the summer of 2001, tossing 36.2 innings with a 1.96 ERA. He had a 3-1 record in nine appearances, including four starts. The following spring, the Pratt, Kansas native was drafted out of Southwest Missouri State by Oakland in the 31st round. He chose to return to school for his senior year and was drafted again in 2003 by Philadelphia in the 20th round. Struggling in the minors, the righty was released, spent a few weeks with an independent club and then signed with Oakland during the 2004 season. He debuted in the majors May 30, 2008.
