Game 22 Preview: Harwich at Chatham

While Chatham (5-13-3) has the fewest points in the league entering Wednesday, there are reasons for hope. The Anglers have activated eight players over the past week, reshaping their roster to a certain extent. Chatham is also coming off its largest margin of victory this season ' a 7-1 win over Orleans on Monday. The most immediate reason for optimism lies in the Anglers' opponent Wednesday night; at 6-12-3, Harwich has the second-fewest points in the league.

Probable Pitchers

Nicholas Regalado (Florida SouthWestern) will take the mound for Chatham. Regalado has made two starts ' getting through four innings in each ' and three appearances en route to a 2.45 ERA. The right-hander has kept hitters off-balance, tallying 14 strikeouts in 11 innings and holding opponents to a .135 average, but he's occasionally struggled with control, walking eight batters this season.

Carlson Reed will make his fourth start for Harwich. The right-hander has run into similar issues as Regalado, walking nine batters in 13 innings. Reed has a 4.15 ERA and 1.38 WHIP this summer.

Chatham Players to Watch

Cooper Ingle (Clemson) has been one of the Anglers' most reliable hitters. Through 60 plate appearances, he's second on the team with a .450 on-base percentage. Batting second, Ingle went 2 for 3 with a walk in Chatham's 7-1 win Monday. The left-handed-hitting designated hitter may patrol the top of the Anglers' lineup again Wednesday with a right-handed pitcher on the mound for the Mariners.

Noah Ledford (Georgia Southern) hit his first home run of the season Monday, sparking the Anglers' offense.

'A buddy of mine said home runs are an accident,' Ledford said after Monday's game. 'It felt really good. I've been hunting for that one all year. Hopefully that was the turnaround I needed, and especially for the team too.'

Harwich Players to Watch

Nick Goodwin leads Harwich with 17 hits and 12 RBIs, although he's played three more games than any other Mariner. In two games against Chatham, Goodwin is 1 for 7 with a walk.

Chris Newell was activated 10 days ago but has already made an impact with Harwich. Newell has blasted two home runs through eight games to pair with a .296 average. The outfielder played with Virginia in the spring.

Stat to Know ' 0

The Anglers are winless in games immediately following an off day. Chatham lost 5-4 to Falmouth on June 16 and 2-0 to Brewster on June 28. Wednesday's game will be the first home game that follows an off day.

Last Time They Played

Chatham and Harwich tied 1-1 on Saturday.

Ben Hampton (West Virginia) was dominant out of the bullpen. The left-hander allowed one hit and struck out eight Mariners over 6.1 scoreless innings.

The Anglers struck out 19 times at the plate, topping their previous season-high of 18. Chatham's only run came on Jake DeLeo's (Georgia Tech) solo shot in the top of the fourth ' which marked his second home run in as many days.
