Chatham Check-In: May 19

This week’s Chatham Check-In features four players from last year’s squad and the oldest Angler alum in the majors.

Rich Hill (Chatham ‘00, ‘01)

Hill, now in his third stint with the Red Sox, came off the COVID-19 IL five days ago and pitched six three-run innings against the Rangers to earn his first win of the season. Hill struck out four in Boston’s 11-3 victory. The 20-year pro has made six starts in 2022, recording a 2.89 ERA and 21 Ks in 28 innings of work. Hill has played for 11 different major league teams. The 42-year-old had a dominant second season for the Anglers; Hill had a 1.91 ERA and 46 strikeouts for an A’s team which made the Cape League championship.

Garrett Crowley (‘21)

Crowley transferred from Fordham to Texas Tech for the 2022 season. The left-handed pitcher has only made one appearance this year, giving up three earned runs on three walks against Merrimack on March 5. In 2021, Crowley started 10 games for the Rams, going 3-4 with 53 strikeouts. The junior appeared in eight games for the A’s last summer. His best Chatham outing came against Hyannis on June 26, when he struck out six in 3.1 innings of hitless baseball.

Kenny Levari (‘21)

Levari is a rock in Old Dominion’s lineup. The sophomore has started in all 50 games for the Monarchs this season, one of three players to do so. As of May 17, Levari bats .272 and is third on the team with 56 hits. The infielder has 11 multi-RBI games. Last summer in Chatham, Levari hit under .200 in 12 games. The New Jersey native drove in 2 RBIs over his first three games.

Lyle Miller-Green (‘21)

Miller-Green is in his first season at Oklahoma State, where he’s recorded just one hit in 17 at bats. The Northern Virginia native started in 14 games at George Mason in the shortened 2020 season before moving to Chipola Junior College in Florida, where he raked his way to a .326 average with three home runs and 17 RBIs. Miller-Green played in 36 games with Chatham last summer, hitting .248 and totaling eight homers and 28 RBIs.

Dominic Tamez (‘21)

Tamez is in his first season at Alabama after spending last year at McLennan Community College and beginning his career at Arkansas. He’s the starting catcher for the Crimson Tide with a season-best 15 putouts against Binghamton on March 13. Tamez had four hits in 10 games with the Anglers last summer. His best performance came against Orleans, when he had a two-run home run in Chatham’s 3-2 win.
