After a win against Bourne, the Cape Cod Baseball League's top team, the Chatham Anglers dropped a game to Harwich, 8-2, allowing three home runs over the nine innings. They now close out a three-game homestand by hosting Brewster at Veterans Field.

When the two teams faced off three times near the beginning of the season, the Whitecaps were in last place and batting under .200 collectively as a team with the worst team ERA in the league. Now, they sit in first at 10-6-2 while the Anglers have plummeted to last place, winning only four times since the first game between the teams on June 24.

Probable Pitchers

Bryce Osmond is set to start his first home game of the season at home after his first two came on the road, with his Anglers debut coming at Brewster. He's given up two runs in each of his two outings this season after struggling at Oklahoma State with a 7.42 ERA. Osmond allowed three hits in three innings to Brewster before allowing six in three innings to Cotuit, but he didn't allow a walk after walking four in Brewster.

Teddy McGraw will face Chatham for the third time this season and second at Veterans Field. In 8.2 innings against the Anglers, he's allowed just two runs and four hits. In the first game, the Anglers chased him out of the fourth inning after he walked the bases loaded, but a strikeout by reliever Griffin Green ended the threat. Since his last game against Chatham on June 30, he's lowered his ERA to 1.42 and opponent average to .182.

Chatham Players to Watch

Josh Rivera's six-game hitting streak snapped Monday when the Anglers only earned two hits against Harwich. But in the two games before, he had two hits in each and drew a walk in the first one. The shortstop has started nearly all of Chatham's games at shortstop, and he's stayed there even after Danny Serretti, a UNC shortstop, arrived in Chatham.

Lyle Miller-Green is tied with Orleans' Chase DeLauter for the league lead in home runs. But since Caden Grice left the team for Team USA, Miller-Green has seen extended time at first base. The Chatham outfield has a surplus of talent, and manager Tom Holliday said starting at first is the best way to get him in the lineup. Miller-Green's been working on defensive drills at first to try to improve his defense after an error and several miscues while adjusting to the new position.

Brewster Players to Watch

Over a five game hitting streak, Spencer Jones is batting .333/.444/.600 with two extra base hits and two walks in that span. In total, he has the fourth best OPS on the team and is one of eight Whitecaps to have a home run this season. He has yet to face the Anglers, though, as he spent the first part of the season in the College World Series with Vanderbilt along with Chatham players Maxwell Romero Jr. and Matt Hogan.

Zach Neto is now Brewster's average, RBI and OPS leader after Colin Davis was drafted in the seventh round by the Mariners. Neto has six extra base hits and eight walks in 15 games, with two doubles coming against Chatham earlier this season. He's listed as a two way player on Brewster's roster but has yet to pitch an inning.

Brewster has the third-worst average in the CCBL, and without Davis' at bats, that number drops to .185. Its pitching has dramatically improved to propel the Whitecaps into first place, and they get on base at the third-best rate in the league even without hits.

Last Time They Played

Osmond gave up two runs in his Anglers debut on June 30, but a seventh-inning home run blew the game open for the Whitecaps in a 9-1 shellacking. Holliday was ejected after arguing the call, claiming it was a home run, but Brewster scored seven runs in the final two innings to put the game well out of reach for the Anglers.
