The Anglers tried to break their winless streak on Saturday ' and nearly succeeded ' until a three-run seventh inning by Harwich put it on top for good. Chatham now returns to Veterans Field and starts a three-game homestand in hopes to find its first home win since July 2 and slowly creep out of last place in the East Division.

For the Bourne Braves, it's a different story. The Braves started the season undefeated, until a tie with the Anglers in their seventh game of the season ended the streak. Since then, they've kept up their record pace, losing just once the entire season.

Probable Pitchers

Kolby Kubichek will make his first start for the Anglers since 2019, when he went 2-2 with a 0.90 ERA in seven starts. Kubichek was one of Texas' most reliable pitchers this season behind 2019 Anglers and likely first-round draft pick Ty Madden. The Longhorn had a 2.54 ERA in his first nine starts, but ended the season on a bad note, giving up nine runs in 5.1 innings over his last three appearances.

Hunter Omlid has started twice this season but hasn't picked up a win, going just three and four innings in those games. He's allowed one run in both of those starts, but he hasn't been as effective in keeping the hits down. Opponents hit .259 against him, and he averages a hit allowed per inning.

Chatham Players to Watch

Johnny Castagnozzi had his first appearance since an injury yesterday and was one of Chatham's most productive players. He started at third and hit a two-run triple in fourth to give the Anglers a 3-0 lead, and walked in the sixth to load the bases, where an RBI fielder's choice scored a run on the following at bat. Castagnozzi could very well be the spark this Chatham team needs, with a team-leading 1.280 OPS and two extra base hits in his five games, of which he's gotten on base at least once in all of them.

Matt Hogan continues to be an offensive spark for Chatham, and the lefty could be in the lineup against the right-handed Omlid. Since returning from the College World Series with Vanderbilt earlier this month, Hogan has three hits and a .368 OBP, with all three coming against right-handed pitchers.

Bourne Players to Watch

Dalton Rushing is normally one of the Braves' best players, but he's been especially hot over their past two wins. The Louisville Cardinal had four hits on Saturday with a double and two RBI. He brought his average up to .356, his OBP to .407, and he now leads the West Division in the former while he's second in OPS.

Joe Lampe hits well against right handed pitching, and he'll most likely lead off for the Braves as he has all season. Lampe has five hits in his last three games and has the second-highest on base percentage in the West Division. He has yet to hit for extra bases, but the Braves start games with a man on first nearly half the time when he leads off.

Stat to Know ' .376

At Texas this season, Kubichek held opposing batters to a .376 slugging percentage. To put that in perspective, the San Diego Padres sit ninth in MLB with a .378 opponent slugging. Even when the latter part of his season fell apart, he still minimized extra base hits. Bourne's .398 slugging is the third highest in the league, with nearly all of their extra base hits coming from doubles. Against a known power hitting Braves team, Kubichek and the rest of the pitching staff's ability to reduce extra base hits will be crucial.

Last time they played

The Anglers were in position to win their first road game of the season and hand the Braves their first loss of the season. With two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth, Chatham reliever Trevor Martin gave up an 0-2 single, followed by another single that tied the game at 3-3. Lampe grounded into a fielder's choice on the next batter to end the game, but with no extra innings this season, it was impossible for Chatham to come back and win after losing the lead.
