In their fourth attempt to even their record, Friday's game in Orleans left the A's feeling the same as they did after the first three tries, as the Cardinals triumphed 5-2. Playing in military all-star uniforms on Independence Day, the A's took an early lead. Grant Green singled, moved to second on a Cory Olson bunt, stole third, and scored on Kyle Seager's RBI single. The Chatham lead wouldn't last long, as Tim Wheeler welcomed Adam Warren to the A's by leading off the first inning with a double. He moved to third on Matt Bowman's single, and scored on Rich Poythress's RBI single.

Tied at one, both starters settled down, as Warren allowed two hits over the next two innings. Cardinals starter Eric Erickson did him two better, retiring the next six A's in order. The A's broke the deadlock in the fourth, as Kyle Seager ripped a ground rule double to right, and scored on a single from Victor Sanchez. The A's lead wouldn't hold up, as Alex Hassan and Cole Figueroa both led off with singles. Warren got the next two men out, and looked to escape the inning as he faced Tim Wheeler. Wheeler singled to left center, scoring both Hassan and Figueroa and giving an Orleans a lead they would not relinquish.

The Cardinals scored one more in the seventh off of Matt Zoltak, and David Hale surrendered a run in the eighth. Kyle Kamppi retired the A's in the ninth to earn his sixth save on the season, as starter Eric Erickson put his record at 1-1 with the win. Adam Warren falls to 0-1 for the now 8-10 A's.

The annual home-and-home between the two teams concludes tonight at Veterans Field. Joe Serafin makes his third start of the summer. The Vermont lefty last pitched on Tuesday, as he held the Cotuit Kettleers to just one hit over two innings. Tonight's game gets underway at 7 PM EST.
